Client: Goverment of Ghana
The Ghana High Commission occupies a grand five storey, Grade I end of terrace property on the historic Belgrave Square. Boasting highly decorative interiors and many original features, the property was in need of sensitive decorative renovation both internally and externally, plus the installation of a new heating and cooling system. This included a new mechanical plant located on the roof, refurbishment of an existing lift and the careful planning of each heating unit with consideration as to its impact on the existing structure. Each element was discussed and negotiated with Westminster Council, English Heritage and the Grosvenor Estates during pre-planning to avoid delays to the application. Jordan + Bateman assisted the Ghanaian Government by liaising with the appropriate authorities, to bring this building up to the standards required for a modern diplomatic building. Jordan + Bateman produced and co-ordinated application drawings with mechanical and electrical requirements and successfully negotiated the approval for the works.
